Description

Professional drivers from GMTA Member companies across the state of Georgia are graded on their ability to assess safety defects in a pre-trip inspection, test their knowledge of the regulations in a written exam, and apply their driving skills to a course guaranteed to challenge the best drivers.

Drivers compete in one of the following classes:

Step-Van, Straight Truck, Flatbed, Sleeper, Twins, Tanker, 3 Axle, 4 Axle, and 5 Axle

In addition to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards, we recognize the Rookie-of-the-Year, best Pre-Trip Inspection, best written Exam, small and large Team Champions, and the Grand Champion. All First-Place winners may be eligible to represent Georgia at the ATA National Championships in August. Companies are responsible for the entry fee to the ATA National Championships. 

Awards are also given for the Great West Casualty Fleet Safety Awards, Rick Perkins Memorial Scholarship, Driver of the year, and Safety Professional of the year.
